Spring Street International School Presents: Metamorphoses -San Juan Island Community Theatre

METAMORPHOSES A play by Mary Zimmerman, Directed by Krista Strutz
Friday and Saturday, April 17-18 7:30 pm
Sunday, April 19 2:00 pm

In this retelling of the classic Greek myths of Midas, Orpheus and Eurydice and others, we witness the transformative power of love, redemption, and forgiveness.

To metamorphose is to change – to undergo transformation by enchantment. Zimmerman’s theme of mythic enchantment uses myth as a hybrid of antiquity and twentieth-century culture. Based on Ovid’s epic poem of the same name, Zimmerman has created a theatrical experience that’s both sensory and visceral, combining humor, pathos, and the inevitability of the unknown in one enormously powerful work.

“Let me die the moment my love dies. Let me not outlive my own capacity to love. Let me die still loving, and so, never die.”
