“World Class” It’s a much-used term, and not always accurate. But it happens to apply quite nicely and justifiably to our own San Juan Islands.

As residents, visitors and even arm-chair travelers know so well, that distinction begins with our incomparable natural setting. From mountain to beach, gracious and majestic shoreline to rich rolling farmland, sparkling open water to romantic foggy inlets, the Islands are in a class by themselves for charm and beauty.

Perhaps less famous are world class wonders in the extraordinary people of the San Juans. There are our distinguished professionals in every field who live here full time or divide their residence between Islands and mainland cities, a community of farmers, craftsmen, artists, writers, and scholars of national and global repute, and not least, a remarkable gathering of retired Islanders who bring to us life experiences of fascinating range and accomplishment.

Add to all this our homegrown masterworks like a school system ranking among the best in the state and nation, an exemplary library, a state-of- the-art new hospital, and most recently the stunning new architectural delight that’s home to our art museum.

I am so proud to live in a truly honored community that takes its blessings as a trust, and proud to work at a Sotheby’s International Realty agency that reflects so well in marketing and clientele the world class standing of this place and its people.
